Tafanel Logistics Hub and Offices, Paris (19th)
Located opposite the Centquatre cultural facility and between the Jardins d’Éole park and the rail-tracks of the Gare de l’Est, the Tafanel logistics hub is designed as an artificial landscape, a series of sheds on varied alignments creating a vast expanse of folds.
Street-side, a linear frontal façade runs for 450 straight metres opposite existing buildings. Reinforced glass is topped by a sheath of anodized aluminium. These layers, their base
a pre-existing blind wall that serves as a canvas for street art, become an ever-changing mirror, reflecting city-life and shifts of light.
Opposite the rails, the rhythmic folds of the roof-line are echoed in the façade, and generate an impression of acceleration and deceleration, creating a cinematic experience for train travellers.
