Les Ardoines Urban Hub, « Inventons la metropole », Vitry-sur-Seine (94)
The urban territory of Les Ardoines is situated in between the local and the metropolitan scale. It offers both a fragmented identity and unique qualities: along the railways, the arrival to the train station and the presence of storage halls materialize the spirit of transition prevailing into this area. The project focuses on three activities: reuse, culture, and health. It is designed to support global development, by implanting firms of various sizes. These programmes are supplemented by housings in order to stimulate the urban dynamics and to create a true neighbourhood life, beyond regular working hours. The whole project creates an ecosystem of linked and complementary activities. These operate within a global synergy connecting offices, shopping and leisure facilities, housing and activities. Each building provides outdoor areas thought as flexibles spaces promoting interactions between users, and each block structures the public space while revealing the original topography. This “anchorage” logic brings unity to this complex whole.
