Young Workers Residence, Paris (14th)
This project consists of the redevlopment of young workers housing, along the Montparnasse main train lines. This new urban ensemble creates an interplay between empty spaces and built elements. It offers a human-sized architecture and provides a filter between the railways and the nearby apartment towers. The three buildings share an equal right-of-way, but have different heights. They are separated by generous green spaces designed as gathering spaces for the users. The building’s very simple and readable volumes are covered by a copper-like skin lightly reflecting the city. The ensemble forms an elegant and easily identifiable urban signal meant to play a key role in this urban sequence.
