Hotel (54 rooms), Avenue de Ségur, Paris (7e)
The key to the composition of the facade is a regular grid of wide picture-windows for the hotel rooms. Each window comprises of a sliding element 90 cm wide and a much bigger fixed section. Their orientation varies from level to level, offering different outlooks, bringing movement to the regular façade, and providing fragmented reflections of the surrounding neighbourhood.
The regularity and generosity of the openings echo the facades of the UNESCO headquarters opposite, but also provide an unencumbered perspective of the Avenue de Ségur. Copper insets for the stonework, and in the same material the outer-frames of the windows, emphasise the wide openings, bringing a luxurious touch to the façade while accentuating the simplicity of its structure.
