Metamorphosis of the Montparnasse Tower, Paris (15e)
«Our project is a whole, built on the ideas best defended by our three studios. It’s a hybridization, never a superposition.»
“Nouvelle AOM” (new AOM): this is the name that came to us, formed by our three architectural firms, Franklin Azzi Architecture, ChartierDalix Architectes, Hardel et Le Bihan Architectes in keeping with the spirit of historical continuity in which we conceive the project. It is an allusion to the group that carried the project from the 50s to the 70s (AOM: Agence pour l’Opération Maine-Montparnasse), and its updated form carries a certain sympathy for the original Tower and its creators (Jean Saubot, Eugène Beaudouin, Urbain Cassan et Louis de Hoÿm de Marien).
Nouvelle AOM is an architectural brotherhood. It is perfectly matched and dedicated to the new Tour Montparnasse project. Setting up shop in situ reflects our desire to develop the project from the inside, to make explorations more interesting, and to carry through the redesign with accuracy. This design workshop on the 44th floor, made up of the five partners and members of the three studios, gives a strong collective dimension to our design work.
