137 private and social housing, Nice (06)
The « Destination Méridia » operation consists of multiple programmes set in the heart of the Nice Méridia urban area. Different types of public spaces and retail outlets create the centre of this new neighbourhood, with the aim to constitute an attractive new city centre of architectural quality.
The project sets up a dialogue between our two buildings, on either side of the new Méridia public square, at the very heart of the urban project. In order to promote the local identity and customs (outdoor-living, sun-relief, etc.) the upper levels are accessible from outside, creating large open spaces, thought of as easily appropriated meeting places.
Every apartment benefits from wide outside spaces, wrapping balconies, and full height windows. These are supplemented by adjustable awnings animating the façade and providing a flexible and elegant solution to protect from the sun.
