Mixed-use Building, Paris (13e)
The T5B block of the Tolbiac-Chevaleret development benefits from an eminently strategic position in this district, and in the larger scope of Paris. For this spot to fulfil its potential and become a top destination, we offered to turn it into a programmatic machine: a true mixed urban block, open to the city. The criss-crossing freed-up space on the ground floor presents a great attractivity. It is connected to all programmes, and its flexibility provides countless organisational possibilities. Part of the accessible rooftop is dedicated to a market garden. This upper level creates an echo to the generous outdoor spaces disposed on all four facades, at every level of the building.
This innovative project aims to truly energize the area. Through its light structure of wooden floor plates and metal framework, the building offers a two-sided dialogue based on such concepts as appropriation and domesticity.
