Bowling Pitch Structure, Meaux (77)
This project, for which the office received the Moniteur Prize for the Best Work of 2009 is located in Pierre Collinet on the outskirts of Meaux. This large-scale construction consists of a metal frames structure with a uninsulated roof. The relatively tight budget, (680€/m²) required us to work with simple materials while refining their implementation by innovative, well-thought-out details. It is in the treatment of rounded angles that the corrugated metal frame clears the vertical limits of the structure, this being a transparent and translucent polycarbonate that lets the light inside, providing suitable lighting for the sport and activities. Using a palette of similar colours allows the building to blend at its base with the earth, and at the top with the sky. Project completed in 18 months, including planning and construction.
